Catellani & Smith lamps: poetry in light

Catellani & Smith was founded in 1989 near Bergamo, specializing in lighting solutions. The business began with the presentation of a prototype at the Frankfurt Environmental Fair, designed under the pseudonym Logan Smith, who was actually the family’s horse.

Catellani & Smith lamps quickly became an instant classic, earning prestigious prizes and appearing in historic landmarks and exhibitions, such as Antoni Gaudí’s Casa Batlló in Barcelona. To this day, each lamp is still handcrafted in Italy, transforming light into breathtaking sculptures.

Lighting masterpieces

From organic curves to geometric shapes, every Catellani & Smith creation features a unique detail. Their distinctive style could be described as scenographic, with statement pendant lights that command attention as standalone pieces of furniture, such as the PostKrisi Chandelier with its jagged edges or the Par 18 Chandelier, with hanging golf balls.

Other remarkable lamps include exclusive metalworks that combine sinuous shapes with a shimmering coating in gold or copper leaf, amplifying the glow of LED light. Pendant lamps like the Lederam Manta, the Gold Moon and Gold Moon chandelier with a cascade of multiple lights, the Macchina della Luce, and the famous Stchu Moon have cemented Catellani & Smith’s reputation as a beacon of design excellence.
