Iconic 2 seater sofa with visible structure in varnished metal and independent seat cushions in polyester.
LC3 is the iconic Cassina 2 seater sofa designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeannerette and Charlotte Perriand. The LC3 sofa is part of the family of furnishing accessories created by the 3 designers for the project "Equipment intereur d'une habitation", a highly innovative idea that would have influenced the design for a long time, up to the present day. The basic concept of the project is simple: the house is a "machine to be inhabited" and therefore requires special basic units of furniture, separate, independent and freely usable. Thus was born the idea of designing archetypal complements, which are at the same time composed of simple single elements, easily manufactured in series and functional, of real "domestic equipment". The LC3 is, in fact, made in harmonious proportions, according to a scheme of relationships and measures called "Modulor", conceived by Le Corbusier himself studying postures, movements and interactions with the objects of a tall human body m 1.83. No detail is, therefore, left to chance: width of the armrests, thickness of the cushions, width and height of the structure, everything follows the golden decalogue of the ideal livability. In functional and practical terms, the sofa has a metal tubular structure, available painted in 7 colors of the Le Corbusier palette, which is built around the seat and not inside, just as the cushions are loose and independent between them and with the structure. This is to ensure greater production sequences but longevity of the product, replaceable in all its parts. The LC3 sofa is available upholstered in a selection of leathers and fabrics from the Cassina collection, and it is also possible to customize the cushions with a special leather profile, in 3 shades.
