Supports 21W E27 2452lm 3000K LED bulb, not included. “Tatou was born as a lighting fixture that crosses a traditional dome type with a research language on its surface, to screen and let the light inside shine through. The first prototypes were born as suspensions, but immediately became a family. The research on different dimensions and situations in the domestic space comes naturally. The process began by trying to find different ways to reconstruct membranes, conceived in the manner of Japanese armor: a set of metal buckles skilfully joined with ribbons with a strong emotional value. There was a simplification process in overlapping vertical perforated bands fixed by rivets. We have translated the research into a real industrializable process, passing the injection molds. The overlapping of these bands has remained crystallized in a three-dimensional skin, a mold with a variable section and a geometric pattern. With Flos, the challenge was to obtain a serial product, maintaining a strong artisan connotation. Tatou in French means armadillo: mammal known for its structure of bony plates covered with a protective horny layer. 'Tatou' is a term with an affective sound, in my opinion in line with the emotional function of this object. " Patricia Urquiola
