In 1912 the entrepreneur Renzo Frau, of Sardinian origins, registered the Poltrona Frau brand at the Turin Chamber of Commerce. After a series of ownership transfers, in 1962 the Nazareno Gabrielli group bought the Turin company which moved to Tolentino a year later. During the 1980s the company expanded its production aiming at the automotive and contract sectors.

 

In 2004 the company became Poltrona Frau Group together with Cassina and Cappellini. In 2014 the Haworth family purchased the Poltrona Frau Group, promoting the values ​​of the brand. In 2019 the Poltrona Frau Group becomes Lifestyle Design Group and today also includes the companies Ceccotti Collezioni, Janus et Cie, Luminaire, Karakter, Luxury Living Group, Interni and Zanotta.
