LC6 is Cassina's table designed by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand in 1928. The table is part of the LC collection, the famous system of furnishing accessories presented by the three designers at the Salon d'Automne in Paris. Like all the elements of the collection, the LC6 table was born from the ambitious project of rearranging and optimizing the industrial production of furniture, creating a series of golden standards and rules that "makes evil difficult and good easy" (LeCorbusier). Every single piece of furniture is thus shaped on the study of the positions of the human body, creating armchairs, chaise longues, tables, stools, armchairs and tables that are, first of all, comfortable and functional. From this point of view, one understands why the structure and top have been designed as separate and distinct, joined only by joints that can be adjusted in height. The structure, made of steel and available in the 6 colors of the Le Corbusier palette, has an ovoid section and is taken from the aeronautical industrial world: tubulars of this size were in fact used to join the wings of the biplanes and, in general, widespread in the fuselages. The tops available are in wood (Walnut, Natural or black stained oak), glass (crystal or printed glass) or marble (black Marquinia or white Carrara). The size of the top depends on the chosen material.
