Inspired by a longtime friend, the film director Billy Wilder, who needed a recliner for resting during work breaks, Charles & Ray Eames developed the Soft Pad Chaise ES 106 in 1968. The seat is made of six cushions joined with zippers, which are attached to the aluminium frame, and two loose cushions provide extra comfort. With leather upholstery, the chaise longue is provided with a base on glides for carpet or hard floor.
