Monachella takes its name from the clothing of the nuns, notable for their calmness and serenity with which they perform their duty between work and prayer. Like the nuns, the shape of the lamp is reminiscent of that of a downward-sloping lampshade. However, the reference to the nuns is not limited to the form, since Luigi Caccia Dominioni also took inspiration from the attitude of the nuns, their discreet presence and the attitude of looking downwards. The lamp seems to look with humility at what it has to illuminate: a book being read, a special object or a particularly dear corner that we want to highlight. The Monachella "ora et labora" lamp rises and lowers diligently along the stem, until it reaches exactly where its light is needed.
