Driade armchairs, style as a declaration of intent

Over the years, Driade has created some projects that have immediately become design masterpieces, capable of fully representing its philosophy: bringing aesthetics and poetry to everyday objects. Driade’s style and inspiration are also enhanced by the use of premium materials, ergonomic features and attention to detail that, combined, create a unique experience.

One of the most iconic designs is the Nemo armchair designed by Fabio Novembre in 2010. A human face with classical features, represented in a universal form as in Greek art, which hides a comfortable seat capable of hiding and becoming a personal refuge.

The inspiration for this armchair came from Gio Ponti’s drawing “A drawing is an idea”, which depicts a female face as a mask, and from Pirandello’s novel “One, no one and one hundred thousand”. Nemo — Nobody — is also the name used by Ulysses to deceive Polyphemus in Homer’s Odyssey: identity is denied to become a mask with which to blend in. With such a background, Fabio Novembre's iconic Nemo armchair could only become an icon of Italian design.
