Maralunga is Cassina's armchair designed by Vico Magistretti in 1974. A piece of furniture become a real made in Italy design icon, thanks to its very original adjustable backrest. The story told this armchair was born by chance: it was a punch by Cesare Cassina to create the original back/head rest. That happened because Magistretti presented a prototype that wasn't enough comfortable for the Cassina's owner, who broke in two the backrest. Looking at that mess, Magistretti had the idea to create an easy adjustable high backrest, that could be folded and used as a low headrest. We actually don't know if it is the truth, but the armchair really is comfortable! Maralunga is available in all the fabrics and leathers from Cassina's catalogue and with feet in 4 different finishes.
