Charles & Ray Eames' search for alternative materials eventually led them to glass-fibre reinforced polyester resin, an unknown material in the furniture industry at the time. With this material they created moulded seat shells for mass production: the Fiberglass Chair was born. Its organically shaped, one-piece shell, proved to be an innovation at that time. The two designers gave great importance to the use of colours – so they spent some time in the factory trying to create the perfect nuances for the shells to be combined with the various bases options. DAR chair is characterized by a non-stacking four-legged wire base with cross struts in three variants: polished chrome, white or basic dark powder-coated finishes. The base is equipped with glides suitable for carpets or hard floors.
