The Ghisa Base represents one of the most indispensable and unconditional pieces of the architect Luigi Caccia Dominioni. This table lamp is reduced to a minimum, even in its name, which simply alludes to one of the structural components. A modest item for the home, but of crucial importance. In Caccia Dominioni's hometown of Milan, "ghisa" was an affectionate nickname given to traffic policemen, due to their austere dark hats. This project is characterized by pure, almost abstract geometry, entirely dedicated to functionality. From the heavy base, a complex play of angles and inclinations seems to emerge, which almost makes the entire structure float, thanks to a skilful balance made possible by the solidity of the materials.
