Acrilica is the first lamp designed by Joe Colombo for Oluce in 1962. A totally innovative and revolutionary product for that time, but that still nowadays keeps a certain vintage and modern charm at the same time. The lamp takes advantage of methacrylate properties, a very common plastic material these days, but that during the '60s was formerly used in light production only in very thin sheets. The Acrilica idea was to use a very thick piece and to take the best advantage of the conduction property: from the fluo bulb situated into the aluminium base, the light goes up through the diffuser, creating a particular and light effect. A sure effect table lamp, which has been keeping during those years all those qualities that made it win a golden medal at the Milan Triennale in 1964.
