The "Stools" stools were developed by the designers Charles and Ray Eames in 1960, when they were commissioned by Time Inc. to outfit the interiors of three lobbies in New York‘s Rockefeller Center. The three seats, lathe-turned, are differentiated by the distinctive profiles of their shafts.
