The Proust armchair is a historic piece of Italian design, realized by Alessandro Mendini in 1978 and re-proposed by Cappellini. Proust has a solid beech wood frame, carved and painted by hand, in an original geometrical decoration proposed onto the cushions coating too, upholstered in different densities polyurethane foam. The idea of the Proust armchair was born from the Mendini's desire of creating a furniture starting from from novels and paintings solicitations of contemporary artists to the French writer. Pointillism, divisionism and Impressionism blended together on the armchair coating, creating an unique and unrepeatable effect.
